Angelcare Careers

Careers

Angelcare was established in Halifax 15 years ago. In 2015 we won the Halifax Courier Business Award for Small to Medium Enterprise of the year. We put this success down to the hard work of the whole team here at Angelcare. Now is the time to join an award winning company.

As well as providing a vast range of private care packages (Self Funded), Angelcare also work closely with Calderdale Council and Wakefield Council to provide home care to vast array of customers.

The rewards of being an Angelcare domicillary carer

Being an Angelcare domiciliary care worker primarily provides support to individuals who still wish to maintain as much independence as possible by being able to live in their own home.

The client will need help with day to day tasks such as personal care, household jobs or any other activity that allows them to remain in their home.

As well as house hold tasks there may also be the requirement to accompany the client to the doctors or on hospital / clinic visits. It is not unusual for our care workers to work night shifts as some clients require around the clock support.

The role of a Domiciliary care worker can be hard work but is very rewarding. The ideal carer will be someone who is genuinely interested in caring for others. The applicant should be kind, sympathetic and patient to the needs that your client faces.

Due to the increasing demand for our services we are looking for warm, flexible and person centered individuals to provide care and support to our service users.

FAQ's from new employees

How long will my training take?

Our training runs daily from 10.00 - 14.00. To complete your training it will take between 7 and 9 days and in some cases longer. The reason for the huge variance is down to the individual we are training, we all learn at different paces and, as an organisation we have to be sure that you have all the knowledge and skills, to be able to undertake your role in a safe and confident manor.

Once my training is complete, what happens next?

Once training has been completed, presuming all your other checks have come back fine (references & DBS), you will undertake 'Shadowing' this is where you pair up with an experienced worker, you will go on client visits with them to witness the care provided in practice, you will be asked to undertake tasks at the visits, these will usually be smaller tasks, while you build knowledge and skills. There isn't a definitive amount of hours for shadowing. As a rough rule it will be a minimum of 8 hours, you won't be expected to work alone until we and yourself feel you are safe to do so.
